A Year of Global Expeditions

From Africa to Vinson, Antarctica, we had a full year in the mountains. Here is our review of 2025 expeditions and tours, and a great start into 2026.

SummitClimb 2025 Review & New Year 2026

Our year 2025 was defined by exceptional expeditions and successful mountaineering tours across multiple continents. The season opened with the Seven Summits on Mount Vinson in Antarctica, achieving a remarkable 100 percent summit success rate among all participants. Toward the end of the year, the focus once again shifted to higher latitudes and greater altitudes, as expeditions on Aconcagua, Kilimanjaro, and Mount Kenya brought an intense mountaineering year to a close.

Andes: Active in High Altitudes All Year Round

In South America, SummitClimb was active almost year-round. The season began in January and February on Aconcagua and continued through March with expeditions to Ojos del Salado. From early June onward, the high season started in Peru with three expeditions. Alpamayo was successfully climbed by many participants, while Chopicalqui was chosen as an alternative objective due to the currently challenging avalanche conditions on Huascarán. In autumn, the program continued in Ecuador with classic ascents of Cotopaxi and Chimborazo.

A Full Summer in Central Asia

One of the year’s highlights was the return to Muztagh Ata in China. In mid-June 2025, the 7,500-meter ski touring peak reopened to international climbers for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic. Under the leadership of Magdalena Wilczek, a mixed group of skiers and snowshoe climbers successfully reached the summit. At the same time, expeditions were underway on Pik Lenin with Maximo Kausch and Angel Armesto, as well as on Khan Tengri with Felix Berg, rounding out an impressive summer season in Central Asia.

Africa, the Himalaya, and the Karakoram

SummitClimb also maintained a strong presence in Africa, with numerous Mount Kenya Trek & Climb tours, successful Kilimanjaro ascents, and an expedition to the Ruwenzori Mountains. The program was further complemented by trekking journeys to Everest Base Camp in the Himalaya and tours in the Karakoram. After particularly intense seasons in 2023 and 2024, a deliberate pause was taken from the 8,000-meter peaks, with the clear intention of returning to these great heights in 2026.

Just as 2025 began with summit successes, this momentum continued into 2026. Early in the year, summits were once again reached on Aconcagua, Mount Kenya, Kilimanjaro, and Ojos del Salado.
