Technical scale: Mountaineering skills required for our expeditions, alpine tours and demanding trekking.

1 - easy

2 - quite difficult

3 - difficult

4 - very difficult

5 - extreme

Mountaineering is the underlying ability to climb any mountain. On classic expeditions, many exposed areas are secured.

1 - easy / simple

"Easy" on expedition already includes mountaineering in alpine terrain or on glaciers up to grad ZS/AD "quite difficult" according to alpine scale. Exposed areas and crevasses are fixed if possible. Basic knowledge in handling ice axe / crampons and rope is required.

2 - quite difficult

Route with extensive passages in the grad ZS/AD: Safe handling with an ice ax, crampons and rope are required. Exposed places or crevasses are fixed if possible or walked in rope team.

3 - difficult

Persistent suspended passages must be managed. These will be insured if possible. Mountaineering on the alpine scale S/D "difficult" with exposed climbing passages (up to IV. UIAA degree). Good use of crampons and rope is required, as well as safe climbing in combined terrain.

4 - very demanding

Exposed and demanding route. The difficulties range up to the alpine scale SS/TD "very difficult" and are mostly insured. Dealing with fixed rope and climbing clamps, increased demands on climbing technique, physical conditions and experience are required, as are all the demands of "difficult" mountaineering.

5 - extreme

Very demanding mountaineering, even without the possibilities of protection. The terrain will rarely exceed the alpine difficulty SS/TD, but can reach the requirements of the alpine scale AS/ES "extremely difficult". Above-average ability and a lot of experience in alpine mountaineering are expected.

Danger Warning: For safety reasons, your personal skills and sufficient experience are required for each expedition and ascent (specific description under Information / Requirements).

Event costs: Participants of our expeditions can join at the base price, which includes independent training and preparation for upcoming expeditions. Alternatively, interested individuals can opt for the full-service package, with the difference credited towards subsequent expedition bookings.

Event Schedule: Together, we will explore the spectacular mountain scenery of the Bernese Oberland. In addition to our two main objectives of ensuring maximum safety and enjoying ourselves as a cohesive team, the focus during these days will primarily be on preparing for and getting to know each other for upcoming major expeditions to the Himalayas, Antarctica, and the Andes.

Xvent Interlaken - itinerary

Arrival: Independent

Meeting point (Day 1): Interlaken, will be communicated to participants.

Depending on arrival-time:

at 3:00 PM: Conditioning training, mountain running
at 7:00 PM: Dinner, followed by an expedition lecture, briefing

Saturday (Day 2): Discussion of equipment for expeditions and planned tour, suitable for equipment testing. Breakfast, then departure into the mountains for a high camp bivouac, possibly including a short tour.

Sunday (Day 3): In the morning, we will once again enjoy the mountain scenery of the Bernese Oberland. Participants can undertake self-guided tours according to their level of ability. Then the descent will take place. Extension program upon request or departure in the afternoon.

Important note: Tours may be made more difficult or completely thwarted due to weather conditions. In such cases, there are still plenty of options to train in the mountains around Interlaken and to fill our event with additional educational content (both theory and practice).

Safety

Participation - Interlaken Event

Prerequisites for participation: You are either a participant in one of our expeditions or interested in joining one, and you are an experienced independent alpinist/mountaineer.

Technical requirements: Basic knowledge of using crampons and ice axe (minimum level: basic ice course, generally higher), as well as familiarity with common safety techniques in high-altitude environments. Experience in alpine ice and rock climbing is advantageous.

Winter session: Please indicate your experience with ski touring, alternatively snowshoeing (which can be rented).

Physical requirements: Fitness for a tour involving up to 1000 meters of elevation gain, willingness to forego comfort for a night (high camp).

Important note: This event is not a basic course. Basic mountaineering skills are not taught but are expected from all participants. You must be proficient in the chosen high-altitude tours; no guiding services will be provided.
