To climb a 7000m peak is challenge on it's own right and offers much more than just being a step towards 8000m-expeditions, for Mount Everest. At 7000 meters (close to 23,000 feet) altitude gets serious, oxygen levels are low and climbing is hard. All the peaks above the 7000m-height are in the Greater Himalaya range: Himalaya, Karakoram, Hindu Kush, Pamir, Tien Shan..
