„Climbing high mountains, I feel free.“
Felix is the CEO of Summitclimb.de (Summit Travel GmbH), a skilled technical climber and graduate mathematician who lives with his partner and their three children in Switzerland and France.
Born in 1980, Felix Berg began mountaineering in 1992 and started his expedition career in Peru in 2000. In 2001, he climbed Ama Dablam (Nepal) and in 2002 reached 8300 m in the challenging Kangchenjunga North Wall with a team of world-class high-altitude climbers. In 2004, he became the youngest German to summit Mount Everest. A passionate rock climber, he has completed routes up to French 8b+ and numerous first ascents worldwide. East Africa, especially Mount Kenya, is a second home: he lived over a year in Kenya and personally organizes Summitclimb’s African programs, regularly exploring mountains and climbing areas across the continent.
After a rockfall accident in 2012, he returned to high-altitude climbing in 2014 with the Broad Peak (8047 m). From 2015, he completed numerous 7000‑m peaks, attempted new routes on Muztagh Tower and Annapurna, and achieved rock first ascents (UIAA 10 / French 8b). In 2018, he summited Cho Oyu and Gasherbrum II via a new route; in 2021 Everest, in 2022 Gasherbrum II again, and in 2023 Manaslu solo—all 8000 m peaks climbed without supplemental oxygen. He also led two Antarctic expeditions and explored 5000‑ and 6000‑meter peaks in the Himalaya and Karakoram.
