Guide & High-Altitude Support: Your personal Sherpa brings extensive summit experience from multiple 8,000-meter expeditions. He will stand loyally by your side on the mountain and support you with strong motivation throughout the climb. He assists with carrying your personal equipment such as oxygen (if desired), sleeping bag, or camera, and ascends the mountain with you as your personal guide.
We work exclusively with Sherpas whom we know personally. You will be assigned a Sherpa who has already proven himself on one of our 8,000-meter expeditions and in whom we place 100% trust.
- Guiding on Manaslu is only meaningful and feasible on a strict 1:1 basis. The expedition leader is not your personal mountain guide. If a mountain guide on Mont Blanc leads a maximum of two clients, how could one safely guide ten participants simultaneously on Manaslu? - If you require personal guiding, we explicitly recommend a personal Sherpa. He is physically very strong, knows the route extremely well (many of our Sherpas have reached the Manaslu summit more than five times), and provides a significantly increased safety margin.
- Your 1:1 Sherpa carries your equipment (up to a maximum of 10 kg of your personal gear), looks after you, secures you on the rope, and cooks for you at high camp. In case of emergency, he will also attempt to assist or carry you. Communication is in English. On the mountain, procedures are generally clear, and if needed, the expedition leader can assist with communication.
- Porters can also be shared with other participants (1/3 or 1/2 porter). Accordingly, your costs are reduced to one third or one half. A Sherpa can carry 15–20 kg but cannot simultaneously act as a guide.
