Participation requirements
Participation: The ascent to the summit of Lakpa Ri / Nordcols is carried out in independent, self-reliant rope teams under the guidance of the expedition leader. There is no guiding, but we offer a refresher course in glaciated routes at the 2nd base camp, so this expedition is a good introduction to high-altitude mountaineering. A good level of fitness is required for the ascent.
Technical requirements: All exposed and steep sections of the ascent are secured with fixed ropes by the leader and Sherpas. You should already be able to walk safely on crampons.
Physical requirements: In addition to a very good physical condition and mental strength, the effects of altitude on the body must be taken into account on this expedition. We attach great importance to correct acclimatization and altitude tactics and provide a very experienced high-altitude mountaineer as expedition leader!
Personal equipment: In addition to complete mountain clothing, a warm expedition sleeping bag down to - 20° C comfort range and very warm expedition mountain boots are part of the basic equipment.

Testimonials
Lakpa Ri Experience: Since our first Tibet expedition to Everest in 2004, we have been able to operate many Lakpa Ri ascents accompanying our tremendous Everest logistics. We have now organized 13 expeditions on the north side of Mount Everest, most recently in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019, and a number of highly experienced expedition leaders such as David O'Brien, Daniel Mazur, and Felix Berg work for us. Together with our superb sherpas and staff, you will benefit from our experience on your 7k-challenge on Lakpa Ri.
Tibet has been largely closed to tourists from 2020 to 2024 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Chinese regulations. For 2025, this tour will have a certain pioneering character, as there is uncertainty regarding entry and the granting of permits. Starting in 2026, we plan to offer regular scheduled departures for north-side trekking tours on Mount Everest.
